Guided By Voices

Isolation Drills
TVT

You’re entering another dimension — a dimension not only of sight and sound, but of mind. Disputes are not settled with tear gas and (rubber) bullets. Cocoa Puffs are still available for kids in need of a morning sugar rush. Beer is sold in stubbies. And the feel-good song of the summer is “Glad Girls” by Guided By Voices. When radio stations aren’t pumping out that irresistible pop nugget, they’re making our lives better by playing “Chasing Heather Crazy” or “Fair Touching.” All is right with the world and the best and brightest rise to the top. Sound familiar? No, I suppose it doesn’t. But oh, what a beautiful dream. Long may the ever-prolific Robert Pollard and his bandmates guide us into the twilight zone of perfect pop music.
