Go Back Snowball
Calling Zero
#17 in the Fading Captain Series

Yet another brilliant record from the (insert adoring adjective here) ____ Robert Pollard, this time providing the voice to Superchunk’s Mac McCaughn music. It’s interesting to hear Pollard work with someone not related to GbV. It’s obvious here that great songs just find their way to Uncle Bob, regardless of who puts them together. The vocals in Never Forget Where You Get Them absolutely send shivers up my spine. Words escape me (shitty thing for a writer, huh?). It’s not rare that something Pollard-related rises my standards for what goes in my ears, but this has to be one of his high points. I’m actually near tears right now just thinking about it. I’m gonna try not to just have this become a sycophantic Pollard ass-kiss fest, so I’d better calm down. Go Gold seems to be the most GbV-sounding song on the record. This is a fantastic collaboration that has come about. I was not a huge fan of the new Airport 5. I probably will be in a few months, but this album could make up for a decade’s worth of bad albums. Luckily, bad albums are not something Robert Pollard makes.
